My Story
How I got here, and what drives me every day
Hi, I'm Nitzan Moran
Space educator, author, observatory director — and above all, someone who believes the sky belongs to everyone.
My love affair with space began as a child in Kibbutz Be'eri — a place where kids didn't have much to do, but the clear skies gave endless room to dream. What started as a curious kid with binoculars turned into a nearly decade-long journey in space and astronomy.
I studied Electrical Engineering and quickly realized my heart lies not only in technology, but in the connection between science and people. How to take something as complex as space exploration and make it accessible, exciting, and inspiring.
Today I do what I love most:
I manage the observatory at the Planetanya and the Dahan Institute for Advancing Astronomy and Space Education at Technoda. I'm also a member of the Israel Space Agency's education community.
I had the privilege of leading the space division at the Davidson Institute and being part of SpaceIL's educational team during Beresheet's amazing journey to the Moon. These experiences taught me that space isn't just science — it's a bridge between people, a tool for creating perspective, and a way to dream together about the future.
What matters to me: Helping as many people as possible look up, gaze at the sky, and understand that space isn't just up there — it's here, within us, in the questions we ask.
